Slow-core prog purveyors deathcrash have unveiled yet another beautifully drawn out piece today in ‘Horses’. Half-whispered over an exhaling chord sequence, hints of Elliott Smith shine through in the vocal melodies, which are panned hard left and right to create an intimate and spine-tingling listening experience. Leaving plenty of space for the heavy atmosphere to set in, softly played drums are animated with the occasional cymbal splash, giving an overall sweetness to the piece. Ideally played through headphones as you're drifting off to sleep, 'Horses' makes quite the emotional impact, reinforcing the idea that sometimes less is definitely more. -Holly Mullineaux
